Israeli settler terrorism in the occupied territories targeting Palestinian civilians, mainly in the north of the West Bank, was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today. Dozens of people were injured, including 10 Israeli solidarity activists, in attacks by settlers and soldiers alike, trees were uprooted, and land was expropriated, said the three dailies in their main front-page story. Al-Ayyam said the 10 Israeli activists were injured, some suffering fractures, when settlers attacked them while helping Palestinians in planting trees in the Nablus-area village of Burin. The papers said Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has strongly condemned the settlers’ rampage in the Palestinian villages calling on the United Nations and the international community to rein in the settlers. The events at Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem were also highlighted on the front page of the three dailies. Al-Quds said the deputy mayor of the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem and right-wing extremist, Arieh King, and under police protection, broke into the private property of the Salem family in Sheikh Jarrah in an attempt to steal their land. The residents confronted him but the police intervened and helped King by suppressing the Palestinian residents and activists. The raid at the Salem family property came only days after the municipality with police held demolished the residence of Mahmoud Salhia in the same neighborhood in order to also steal his land.
