Israeli occupation forces today and last night detained 18 Palestinians from various parts of the occupied territories, according to local and security sources. They said that Israeli forces rounded up four Palestinians in multiple raids across the Ramallah and al-Bireh district. One of the four was identified as a resident of Ni‘lin town, west of Ramallah city, two others as residents of al-Mughayyir village, northeast of the city, and the other as a resident of Beit Rima village, northwest of the city. In Nablus district, soldiers detained two others after breaking into and ransacking their houses in Balata refugee camp, east of the city. They showed up at the family house of a former prisoner in Rujeib town, southeast of the city, conducted a thorough search and eventually arrested him. They also conducted a similar raid in Beit Dajan, east of the city, a town that has turned into a scene of weekly Friday rallies against decades of Israeli settler-colonialism, apartheid and intensified land pillage, and arrested one person. In Jenin district, the military vehicles stormed Ya‘bad town, west of the city, where the soldiers arrested another and ransacked his family house. The heavily-armed soldiers barged their way into the Jenin city neighborhood of Sweitat, and detained two others. Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, the soldiers arrested a former prisoner from the southern neighborhood of Tulkarm city and ransacked his family house. Meanwhile, two others, including a 16-year-old teen, both residents of the city, were detained after being stopped at Tayasir checkpoint, east of Tubas city, in the Jordan Valley. In the southern West Bank, the sources confirmed a raid in Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem city, resulting in the detention of two others. Israeli troops also forced their way into al-Fawwar refugee camp, southwest of Hebron, forcibly entered several houses and detained two others. Palestinian prisoners’ advocacy groups said that Israel detained 690 Palestinians during the month of May, including 76 minors and 19 women, most of them from occupied East Jerusalem, which was the highest number of detentions this year after April when 1228 Palestinians were detained.
